The Forest City Area Historical Society is committed to promoting research, preservation, & education relevant to the history & historical artifacts in the towns of Browndale (Wayne County), Forest City (Susquehanna County), Richmondale (Lackawanna County), &Vandling (Lackawanna County) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Services available at the Forest City Branch Library include Internet & free Wi-Fi, faxing & photocopies, books, newspapers, magazines, paperback books, audiobooks on CD, & movies on DVD, as well as our Babies & Books program.
The Forest City Lions Club is a place where individuals join together to give their valuable time & effort to improving their communities, & the world. They work to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, & promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
The Forest City Marketplace sells antiques, crafts, collectibles, & more featured by multiple local artisans & vendors.
The Forest City News staff is committed to providing the Forest City community with the latest news through their weekly publication. You can view their articles online or head to a Forest City store that features the paper to purchase one.
The Greater Forest City Area has a thriving arts community, including solo exhibitions, annual art shows, plus inspiring works by local painters & photographers shared on the walls of busy shops throughout town. Steamtown National Historic Site, the Scranton Cultural Center, & many more historical sites are also nearby.
The Mountain View Garden Club is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to share its knowledge & love of gardening while beautifying the Elk Mountain area & surrounding communities. On the first Sunday in June, they host the Plant Exchange & Marketplace at the Clifford Community Center in Clifford, PA. The event is open to the public to purchase & exchange plants with other gardeners.
The Susquehanna County Historical Society acts to preserve Susquehanna County’s History, and to allow the public to learn their heritage here. They have a museum that is free to the public! There is also a Genealogy Research Department that can be used for a small fee & provide resources if you can not be on-site. Annual membership is available, which gives you access on any regular business day to look through the materials for free and you will receive a copy of our Annual Journal.
