VISIT

Forest City Logo

The Historic Forest City Area has an even greater history of welcoming visitors, new neighbors & businesses since our coal-mining boom days nearly a century ago.

Families from across the globe have chosen our home as theirs, generations have prospered, our business community continues to grow, & we’re naturally surrounded by our namesake—beautiful forests, inviting you to explore them & our bountiful attractions.

Come for a weekend or stay for a while & you will see that our “Main Street America” way of life goes much farther than Main Street, Forest City.  Downtown Forest City is host to many unique shops, salons, restaurants, cultural & historical sites, & more.  When you meet members of our community as they visit their insurance agent or mechanic, work on their business with the GFCBA or a marketing agency, or as they pick up their groceries you will feel the down-home nature of this beautiful area.

Not only can you take in all of the local businesses on your visit you can take in the beauty of the Greater Forest City Area.  In the winter you can travel over 200 miles of interconnected snowmobile trails, go snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice-skating, or even ice-fishing.  Don’t forget skiing & snowboarding at Northeast PA’s top resort, Elk Mountain.  During the spring, summer, & fall you will find farm stands & horse-riding stables, county fairs & festivals, parades, open house art openings, plus the wide-open spaces of our surrounding lakes, trails, rivers, & endless mountains.

We’re easy to find and conveniently located at the intersection of Lackawanna, Susquehanna, & Wayne Counties. With nearby access to Interstate 81 & Route 6, expanding businesses rely on our efficient infrastructure for manufacturing, warehousing, shipping & receiving. Our skilled labor force brings talents and experience, while nearly a dozen area universities & trade institutes, including the Forest City satellite location of Johnson College, provide exceptional training for the future workforce!

We hope to see you soon!
